Gettysburg Eagle Breastplate 

 

Recovered from the hallowed ground of the Battle of Gettysburg, this excavated U.S. eagle breastplate is a tangible relic from the Civil War’s most pivotal engagement. The stamped brass face retains a well-defined Federal eagle with pleasing detail, making it an appealing representative example of one of the most recognizable pieces of Union accoutrement. 

 

The plate is in excavated condition, exhibiting expected age and battlefield wear. The brass face remains intact with a strong eagle motif, while much of the original lead backing is still present. The iron attachment loops are no longer present, and the plate displays an untouched patina consistent with Gettysburg-recovered relics. 

 

A genuine battlefield artifact from America’s defining conflict, this Gettysburg-recovered eagle breastplate is an excellent addition to any Civil War collection, Gettysburg display, or excavated relic grouping.
