Gold Mourning Badge
Inscribed: “Hale – Roanoke Feb 7th, 8th 1862” 14 Karat profusely engraved face with a raised cross, federal shield, and star. The body is constructed of hardwood with a gold clasp and plaque on the reverse with the presentation. The badge was in honor of George Hale of the 27th Massachusetts Infantry who Was Killed in Action at the Battle of Roanoke.
