Description
Hunting and Fishing Calabash Flask – Inventory Number: BOT 078 / SOLD Civil War era flask. This is an aqua “Calabash” flask, about a quart in capacity and is known as a “Hunting & Fishing” flask. It is embossed on one side, with the figure of a man in a top hat, shooting a long gun at a couple of ducks, while his hunting dogs look on. The reverse side is embossed with the same sportsman, holding a fish in one hand and a fishing pole in the other, with a reel over his shoulder. This fisherman is standing in a small pond, in front of what appears to be a log cabin in the distance. This old flask features five embossed ribs running up from the bottom of each side, to the scalloped base of the neck. The hand-applied lip is tooled into a 3/4″ tall bevel. The seams on this bottle run from the edge of the kick-up to a point about half-way up the stretched neck. The embossing on this flask is fairly bold. The bottle stands 9 1/2″ tall, 5 1/2″ wide, and 4 1/4″ “thick”. The flask is in great condition. Inventory Number: BOT 078 / SOLD
