Iron handcuffs, constructed of hand-forged oval cuffs joined by a central swivel chain link to prevent binding. The cuffs retain their original hinged form and locking mechanisms, with one side showing the period keyhole configuration.

The iron surfaces exhibit heavy, undisturbed patina with surface oxidation consistent with age and prolonged use. Construction details—including the forged links, riveted joints, and integral swivel—are characteristic of mid-19th-century restraint manufacture. Handcuffs of this form were commonly used by law enforcement, military authorities, and detention facilities.
