James Conner Confederate Brigadier General – Inventory Number: CON 449 / SOLD A fine original ink autograph of Confederate General James Conner (1829 – 1883). Conner was from South Carolina. He graduated from South Carolina College and was a lawyer before the War. He served in a local militia and participated in the Fort Sumter bombardment. At the battle of Gaines Mill in Virginia, he had his leg shattered by a bullet. He returned to lead his men at Chancellorsville and Gettysburg. In June of 1864, he was promoted to Brigadier General. At Cedar Creek, he would lose the leg that was wounded earlier. After the War he returned to South Carolina and practiced law. Comes housed in 6 x 8 riker display case with red velvet and descriptive card.   Inventory Number: CON 449 / SOLD
