Elegant lathe-turned ebony writing pen, crafted with beautifully sculpted contours along the shaft. The deep, glossy black ebony shows excellent patina and fine turning marks, highlighting the artisan quality of the piece. Both ends taper gracefully, with the writing tip retaining its original metal ferrule and nib.

 

Ebony pens of this form were popular personal writing instruments during the Civil War era, often carried by officers, clerks, and soldiers who kept journals or maintained correspondence from the field. The balance, finish, and workmanship on this example are exceptional. Measures approximately 5 3/4″.
