Maynard Arms Co. Single Cavity Bullet Mold

This is a nice example of the single cavity bullet mold for a .50 caliber Maynard carbine. The mold was made by the Massachusetts Arms Company. The iron mold is marked “MANUFACTURED BY / MASS. ARMS CO. / CHICOPEE FALLS”.  The mold measures approximately 7 ½” long. There is one cavity that casts a .50” elongated bullet with a rounded nose. The rounded nose feature denotes the Civil War period example. The mold has an integral iron sprue cutter attached at the hinge pin. The iron mixed patina of pewter-gray and brown. This would be the perfect accessory to go with a Maynard carbine display.
