Description

Model 1840 Musicians Sword – Inventory Number: SWO 122 / SOLD Excellent Condition.  Manufactured by Ames-Dated 1863.  Exact example pictured on page 126 of American Swords.  Brass hilt has a single guard and resides in its original leather scabbard fitted with original brass throat and drag.  The ricasso of the blade is marked “US / AHC / 1863” in three lines.  The reverse of the ricasso is stamped “Made By / Ames Mfg Co / Chicopee / Mass”.  The knucklebow has an inspector’s mark of “ADK” (Andrew D. King).  The brass hilt is tight and features a simulated cast brass wire wrap.  The brass drag of the scabbard has the marking “G.W.C.” at the tip.   Inventory Number: SWO 122 / SOLD
