Description

Model 1855 Bayonet and Scabbard – Inventory Number: BAY 215 / SOLD U.S. Model 1855 socket bayonet for the 1855-1863 pattern rifle-muskets. It measures 21” and is marked “US” on the blade. The bayonet is complete with locking ring and is turning a light gray with scattered light pitting overall. The scabbard is the eight-rivet pattern that appeared during the second half of the Civil War. The frog bears a faint Newark, New Jersey maker’s mark, and the scabbard body has a 3” separation to the chain stitching. The brass tip still remains loosely attached to the scabbard despite missing the four attachment rivets. Overall, both bayonet and scabbard are in good condition and display very well.     Inventory Number: BAY 215 / SOLD
