Model 1855 Bayonet & Scabbard  

 

Original Model 1855 U.S. socket bayonet, accompanied by its correct two-rivet leather scabbard, presented in desirable attic-found condition. The bayonet retains strong, honest age with surface oxidation consistent with long-term storage. 

 

The socket and locking mechanism remain intact. The blade exhibits uniform patination and wear consistent with period manufacture and storage. 

 

The accompanying scabbard is an early two-rivet example, retaining its original leather body. The leather shows dryness and separation along the seam and at the finial, a common and expected condition for attic-stored Civil War leather. Despite this, the scabbard remains a strong, displayable survivor with excellent form and character. 

 

A well-matched bayonet and scabbard set that displays exactly as collectors expect—honest, untouched, and full of period presence.
