Original Civil War Regulation U.S. Issue Tin Cup

 

A fine example of an original U.S. regulation tin cup used by Union soldiers. Constructed of tinned sheet iron with a folded and soldered seam, this utilitarian cup features a classic rolled lip and the distinctively reinforced strap handle, allowing it to be hooked onto haversacks or belts for easy field use.

These cups were standard issue and were used by soldiers for everything from coffee to soup—icons of daily life in camp and on the march. This example shows honest period wear and age-appropriate patina. Dimensions: Approximately 3” height x 4” diameter.
