Circa 1855–1865

This fine oval-format albumen photograph captures former U.S. President Millard Fillmore seated in three-quarter view, wearing a dark formal coat, waistcoat, and cravat. The image exhibits superb tonal range and clarity, showing Fillmore in his later years following his presidency. Likely produced from a Mathew Brady negative, the photograph represents one of the better-preserved contemporary likenesses of Fillmore distributed in the post-Civil War period when public interest in earlier presidents revived.

Mounted to period card stock (oval cut), the image retains a soft sepia tone typical of this type in of albumen printing, with only minor oxidation and surface mottling consistent with age.
