Scarce and highly collectible American underhammer pistol, clearly marked on the barrel “CARROLL & CO. BALTIMORE,” a desirable regional maker active in the mid-19th century. This classic single-shot percussion pistol features the distinctive underhammer ignition system, prized for its simplicity, reliability, and direct ignition. 

 

The pistol retains a pleasing, untouched patina throughout, with a smooth metal surface and honest age. The octagonal-to-round barrel configuration is well executed, and the walnut grip exhibits attractive form with a rich, darkened surface from age and handling.
