Revolutionary War–Era American Bayonet
 

Revolutionary War–era American bayonet, features a long, triangular blade with deep age-darkened patina and a socket hilt designed for mounting on a period flintlock musket. The socket shows hand-forged construction with a mortise slot.

 

The blade exhibits heavy, honest surface oxidation, pitting, and wear consistent with age and prolonged use. The surface remains untouched, with no modern cleaning or restoration, preserving its original character and historical integrity. 

 

Bayonets such as this were essential infantry weapons during the Revolutionary War, used both in combat and as deterrents during battlefield advances and defensive positions. Surviving examples from this period are increasingly scarce, particularly in as-found condition, ideal for collectors of Revolutionary War arms, early American history, or 18th-century edged weapons.
