Revolutionary War Era Hessian Socket Bayonet
Circa 1760–1780. Heavy iron socket bayonet with broad triangular blade, long curved shank, and deep Z-shaped mortise cut. Socket measures approximately 3″ with turned muzzle lip. Blade stamped “No 7,” likely a rack or regimental number. Exhibits smooth, dark brown patina consistent with 18th-century German manufacture. This pattern was employed by Hessian and Brunswick troops serving under British command during the American Revolution.
