Scarce Civil War NCO Crimson Worsted Wool Sash 

A scarce and increasingly difficult to locate Civil War non-commissioned officers sash, executed in crimson worsted wool. Unlike the more commonly encountered officer’s silk sashes, NCO examples were produced in wool and saw hard service, accounting for their relative rarity today. 

This example shows honest wear consistent with field use, with the wool retaining good body and a pleasing, subdued tone. The construction and material clearly distinguish it from officer-grade sashes, underscoring its enlisted use. A desirable and seldom encountered piece, far tougher to find than its officer counterparts and a strong representation of NCO accoutrement.
