Silver Seated Liberty dime with the reverse sanded down and engraved with crossed cannons and “Jonathan F. Hatrick, 112th Regt. Bat.C. 2d Art. P. Vols.” Hatrick enlisted in December 1863 as a sergeant in the 2nd Pennsylvania Heavy Artillery (originally organized as the 112th Pennsylvania Infantry). The regiment manned forts around Washington DC before serving as infantry in Grant’s Overland Campaign at The Wilderness, Spotsylvania, Cold Harbor, and Petersburg. Hatrick was wounded in action at the Battle of Chaffin’s Farm and was mustered out in January 1866. The badge shows evidence of once having a soldered pin back.
