Description
Smith & Wesson No. 2 Army .32 Rimfire Revolver
A fine and early example of the Smith & Wesson No. 2 Army .32 caliber rimfire revolver, retaining much of its original blued finish on both the barrel and frame, with only light, honest wear. The hammer and casing extractor rod display a pleasing case-hardened appearance.
The cylinder shows expected wear with a light pitted area at mid-body, while the top of the cylinder retains its patent date markings of April 3, 1855; July 5, 1859; and December 18, 1863. The barrel is clearly stamped “Smith & Wesson, Springfield, Mass.” with matching serial number 39743 found on the underside of the barrel.
The bore remains clean with strong rifling. The revolver functions properly, with the action operating smoothly. The rosewood grips are excellent, retaining crisp fit and strong varnish, and are numbered to the gun.
A strong, honest example of a slightly post Civil War-era Smith & Wesson revolver, offering excellent eye appeal and full functionality.
