State of Vermont Certificate of Service for Warren Ellis, Vermont 17th Infantry

 

Document features a panoply of arms with a banner flowing from either side, with the battles.  “Bull Run, Savage Station, Antietam, Williamsburg, Fredericksburg, Cold Arbor, and Winchester” to the right and “Gettysburg, Spottsylvania, Petersburg, Cedar Creek, Fisher’s Hill, and Vicksburg” to the left.  Warren Ellis is handwritten.  Printed signatures of Governor John Stewart and Adj. Inspector General William Wells Housed in original frame, measures 18 5/8″ x 24 3/8″. Warren Ellis: Enlisted on 3/25/1864 as a Private, residence listed as Rockingham, Vermont On 4/12/1864 he mustered into “E” Co. VT 17th Infantry He Mustered out on 7/14/1865 at Washington, DC.
