Description
Turn-of-the-Century Copy of the Gettysburg Address
A handsome turn-of-the-century manuscript copy of Abraham Lincoln’s Gettysburg Address, beautifully executed on aged, period-style paper. Produced around circa 1890–1910, this is handsomely mounted in its original period frame and is one of the earliest copies I have encountered, commonly created for educational display, patriotic organizations, and early battlefield souvenir shops—bridging the postwar era with the rise of Civil War commemoration.
This example presents the full text of the Gettysburg Address in flowing script, beginning with Lincoln’s iconic “Four score and seven years ago…”
