Wonderful Star Belt Plate on its Original Belt – Inventory Number: BEL 533 / SOLD This classic pattern clipped corner belt plate features a large, five-pointed star of silver affixed to the center. The star features intricate wiggle work engraving on half of each median ray of the star. The solder is visible at the perimeter of the star to secure in place.  The backside retains its original belt loop, and wide tongue.  The cotton web belt is in sound condition and pliable with the expected soiling from use. The star motif is most strongly associated with militia units from Mississippi and Texas and was formerly in the collections of the Texas Civil War Museum. The star, of course, could be used in a patriotic spirit by any militia unit, who usually had considerable leeway in choosing their own uniforms, etc. A very scarce and beautiful example.   Inventory Number: BEL 533 / SOLD
