12 Pound Bormann - Inventory Number: ART 273
Classic case shot fused artillery shell recovered from thee Battle of Gettysburg. Shell has been rendered inert. Body exhibits coarse pitting with some lofting of the fuse. Diameter: 4.52 inches, fired from the 12-pounder smoothbore.
Nice Bormann fuse present. The artillerist used a metal punch to pierce the thin metal at the desired time marking. This exposed a section in the horseshoe shaped horizontal powder train. When the canon discharged, the flame from the explosion ignited this powder train. With certificate of Authenticity.
