Scarce 1/6th plate ambrotype of a young firefighter identified as William Lyman, wearing an overshirt with large cravat. His helmet is proudly displayed on a cloth covered table next to him bearing the number “2” for his engine company, with “Hose Relief” above the 2 and “WJM” below. His belt buckle also bears a large number “2.” To his left appears to be his overcoat with large brass buttons. The image is crystal clear with a slight pink tint to his cheeks. A wonderful fireman’s image from the late 1850s-early 1860s.
Comes housed in a 6 x 8 inch display case with red velvet backing and descriptive card.
