1849 Methodist Hymn Book / SOLD

Ornate Methodist hymn book published in 1849 titled Hymns for the use of The Methodist Episcopal Church: Revised Edition. The 736-page book measures 4 ½” by 3” with gilt page edges. The purple velvet covered binding is edged with strips of brass with a brass shield device on the front cover and spine. The book locks with a hinged brass closure tab. A wonderful antebellum religious text with great visual appeal.
