Agate Brooch - Inventory Number: PER 120 / SOLD

This is a Civil War era brown banded agate brooch set into a lovely heavily gold-plated ornate mount. A good-sized piece, the brooch measures nearly 1 ¾" in width and 2" in height. The agate is lovely chocolate brown and is beautifully translucent. With period correct tube hinge and "c" clasp closure. Pin back extends beyond the body of the brooch by 1/4", consistent with jewelry of the period.  Excellent condition - no chips or cracks. Typical rolled gold mount.
