Mint condition ink signature on tan paper measuring: 4” x 2 ¼”. “Geo. J. Stannard – Brig. Genl. Vols.”
Stannard was a Brevet Major General for the Union Army. At Gettysburg, he was severely wounded in his right thigh by artillery but stayed on the battlefield. His unit was credited with repulsing Pickett's charge on 7/3/1863.
Comes housed in 6 inch x 8 inch riker display case with red velvet backing and descriptive card.
