Original Burnside pattern breast plate recovered from a water site, showing heavy patina with traces of gilt remaining. This style of plate, featuring the federal eagle design, was commonly issued to Union cavalry and infantry troops during the Civil War. The plate retains its lead-filled back, though some surface wear is evident from its time underwater. A solid relic for any collector of battlefield or dug artifacts
