Civil War Bass Drum - Inventory Number: MUS 090 / Sold

Absolutely beautiful example of a large Civil War bass drum.  This example was produced by the well-known drum making firm of Eisenbrandt in Baltimore MD.  This style of drum was very popular with many military, militia and bands during the Civil War years.

The circular wooden shell is constructed veneered, pliable wood such as ash or maple that is strong and tight condition with no breaks.  Measures a large 28 1/2" in diameter x 18" wide.  Shell interior features the original maker's label in a light-yellow colored paper glued to the interior wall of the drum.  Label reads: "Eisenbrandt - 78 West Baltimore St. Baltimore MD."  Heads are original and exhibit period field repairs.

Accompanying the drum is an original Civil War era beater device, not currently pictured.
