Civil War Carbine Cartridge Box - Inventory Number: LEA 333
20 round leather cartridge box manufactured by J.I. Pitman of New York. The interior retains the original drilled wood block for Sharps and Spencer carbine. Bottom of the wood block has a post war identification “S.D. Waysman, Topeka Kansas, Cadet Corps of U.V. of MA 1882 – gun No. 3,380 – Mar 10 – 82. Nice example of a Civil War accoutrement which continued in the service out west.
