Civil War Era Parade Torch

Parade lantern featuring a tin oil container with brass wick holder, suspended from a painted tin fork. The lantern is mounted on a 17 ½” turned wood handle. This style of lantern was popular during the Civil War era for nighttime parades and political gatherings, and they were commonly used by the Wide Awakes and other political groups of the day.
