Civil War Rosewood Fife with Cheater – Inventory Number: MUS 205
A fine example of a mid-19th century rosewood fife, typical of those carried by Union field musicians during the American Civil War. Crafted from dense, dark rosewood with smooth patina from age and handling, this fife features six finger holes and a german silver ferrule at each are hallmarks of quality wartime construction. These instruments were essential for communication on the march and in camp, often used to signal commands or boost morale with martial tunes.
