    Civil War Ironclad Navy Report - Inventory Number: HIS 199 / SOLD

    Scarce book entitled: “Report of the Secretary of the Navy in Relation to Armored Vessels 1864”.

    Caption title: Letter from the Secretary of the Navy, in answer to resolutions of the House and Senate in relation to the operations of armored vessels employed in the service of the United States. Ordered printed April 21, 1864.

    This edition is inscribed by Copley Armory and dated December 1864.  Copley Amory Resided in Boston MA and enlisted at 20 years old as a 2nd Lieutenant.  He was commissioned into the 4th US Cavalry, promoted to 1st Lieutenant and would resign on 12/15/1863.

    Other Information: Born 5/10/1841 in Massachusetts. After the War he lived in Boston, MA. Died 12/16/1879 in Boston, MA Buried: Mount Auburn Cemetery, Cambridge, MA. Gravesite: Lime Ave-4118.
