Civil War Musket Worm - Inventory Number: FIR 021 / SOLD
This is an excellent original gun worm for a Civil War era rifle. Used for the cleaning out of the musket bore. Would have held a wad of tow (the fiber of flax, hemp or jute). This tow was then used for regular maintenance of bore cleaning. Could also be used for the extracting a bullet if there was a problem with firing or any other reason needed to pull the bullet out. Measures approximately 2 1/8 inches in length and is approximately 1/2 inches in width. This is an excellent non-excavated condition musket worm.
