Civil War Patriotic Wall Clock - Inventory Number: MIS 063 / SOLD
Excellent condition example of the clock found in many soldier’s and patriotic citizens homes during the war. The New Haven Clock Company was founded in New Haven, Connecticut by Hiram Camp in 1853. The company's mission is to mass produce inexpensive brass clock movements for use homes around the country. By 1860 - The New Haven Clock Company annual clock production is now about 170,000 clocks annually. Their workforce numbers 300 men and 15 women.
This fine example retains its original reverse painted patriotic motif glass tablet. Very good condition. Original hand painted metal dial and excellent paper label. Mahogany veneered case with no chipping. Measures: 26" high x 15.5" wide x 4" deep. Weights, key, and dial present. Would nicely accent any war room.
