Civil War Regulation Drumstick Carriage Buckle issued to Civil War Drummers. This plate was affixed to the drummer’s sling of the drummer and stored the drumsticks when not in use. The plate is constructed of heavy sheet brass and the tubes are fashioned of rolled sheet brass. The contour rings are additional layers of brass, and the tubes are attached with rivets. The original attachment hooks were replaced long ago with brass wire, possibly by an old surplus dealer such as Bannerman. An original pair of Civil War 16” drumsticks are mounted in the buckle and are in good condition with evidence of honest use.
