    Civil War Rhode Island Musician's Badge - Inventory Number: INS 228 / Sold

    German silver pin bearing the U.S. Shield surmounted by a fouled anchor (State seal) and the motto "BAND of HOPE" (Hope is the state motto).  Word of mouth attribution to George W. Hoxie, Musician, Co. C, 5th Rhode Island Heavy Artillery.

    Residence Charlestown RI;

    Enlisted on 10/23/1861 as a Musician.

    On 12/16/1861 he mustered into "C" Co. RI 5th Heavy Artillery

    He Re-enlisted on 1/5/1864
