    Charles M. Newbegin

    Born in Poland, ME.  Enlisted from Hampstead, NH on 4/25/1861 as a 21 year old private into Company “H” of the 1st New Hampshire Infantry. He was Mustered Out on 8/9/1861 at Concord, NH. On 8/29/1862 he re-enlisted into Company “E” of the 11th New Hampshire Infantry where he was promoted to Sergeant.  He was Wounded in action December 13th 1863 at the Battle of Fredericksburg, VA. And was discharged for disability on 8/29/1863.  After the War he lived in Lewiston, ME.
