Confederate Tin Drum Canteen - Inventory Number: CON 223 / SOLD

Wonderful original tin drum canteen with original cotton strap.  This is the classic style of a C.S. tin drum canteen seen in many wartime photographs. Complete with its tin spout, cork and all three sling keepers present. Edges, spout and keepers are present and affixed via oxidized lead solder. Measures 7” in circumference by 2” wide. The body is solid with just a few small dings, dents and very light scratches from age and use. Remnants of an early museum or capture tag and a scratched identification on the face would take some work to decipher.  Wonderful example from a prominent civil war collection.
