Confederate Wooden Canteen / SOLD

Classic Confederate drum canteen made from cedar or cherry. The staves are held together by 2 iron bands. The original iron sling strap on the bottom of the canteen is still in place, and the other 2 were replaced long ago with heavy iron wire. The mouthpiece appears to have been widened slightly with a knife. The initials “JMC” are carved into one side. A very pleasing patina shows honest age and use. This is a very attractive Confederate canteen that certainly saw service in the field.
