Excavated Model 1855/61 Bayonet / SOLD

Full length bayonet in very good dug condition, measuring 21 inches and just missing the locking ring. The ‘US” marking on the blade is still visible. Recovered from the 2nd Manassas battlefield, a major Confederate victory by Robert E Lee over John Pope in Virginia that resulted in nearly 23,000 casualties from August 28-30, 1862.
