Federal Read-Parrott Recovered from Gettysburg / SOLD

Federal Read-Parrott - Inventory Number: ART 236 / SOLD

Recovered from Gettysburg.  This is an example of the combination of Read's wrought iron sabot and Parrott's body design.  This projectile was intended to be fired from the 10-pounder (2.9-inch caliber) Parrot rifle.  Shell retains its iron sabot with a dimple on the base.  The body is smooth with scattered surface pitting.
