Hosted in Saint Paul, 1896. Presented by the Citizens Committee of St Paul. This example is a delegate's badge for the Grand Army of the Republic's 30th National Encampment in St. Paul in 1896. The top brass medal shows a farming scene in a circle atop bundles of wheat, with St Paul's motto "Le Toile Du Nord" above. Suspended from that is the dark chocolate brown Saint Paul 1896 Delegate's medal. Below that is suspended the brass GAR medal with an eagle and enameled representation of the American flag. At the bottom is a chocolate brown metal star with a portrait in the center. On the back it is marked "Presented by the Citizen's Committee St. Paul 1896.
4 1/4" long overall, and 2" wide across the top brass medal. The manufacturer's mark and "Pat apl'd for". Four-piece bronze and gilt hanger in very good condition. This pattern never had an attached ribbon, so it is complete. Rare version.
