Gavel Made From "White House" Wood "Lincoln Bedroom" - Inventory Number: POL 083 / SOLD

Gavel is made from wood that was removed from the Lincoln Bedroom in the White House.  Base that gavels rests on was made from wood at the Gettysburg Battlefield.  Gavel has a brass plaque affixed that reads, "ORIGINAL WHITE HOUSE MATERIAL REMOVED IN 1950".  The Presidential seal is in the center of the label.  Gavel is tacked to base and swivels.

Underside of board has paper label that reads, "MR. J.D. LIPPY, JR 161 SEMINARY AVE. GETTYSBURG, PA."  Board measures 3 3/4 inches by 7 inches.  Gavel measures 10 inches long by 3 1/2 inches wide.  Gavel shows a small hole on top that goes through to the front where a nail would have originally affixed the board.  A wonderful relic steeped in history!
