Exceptional piece of soldier’s art by Hugh H. Layton of the 15th NJ. The neckerchief is crafted from a thick piece of bone, with Layton’s unit information meticulously carved in relief from company to army service. The 6th Corps emblem and the space around the lettering is carefully filled with red and blue colored wax, and the lettering is flanked by two patriotic eagles. This is a wonderful personal item and piece of soldier art.
