    Hector Tyndale - Inventory Number: AUT 112

    Hector Tyndale was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on March 24, 1821. In June, 1861 he became a Major of the 28th Pennsylvania, Lieutenant Colonel in April, 1862 and Brigadier General of Volunteers in November, 1862. He rendered important service at Wauhatachie and turned the enemy's flank carried an elevation (later known as Tyndale's Hill) by a charge with a bayonet. In May, 1864 he went home on sick leave and three months later resigned as being unfit for further duty due to multiple wounds received during the Battle of Antietam.
