Hotchkiss Artillery Shell Battle of Gettysburg - Inventory Number: GET 450 / SOLD
Excellent example of a 3” Hotchkiss shell in dropped condition. The lead sabot is in exemplary shape with light white oxidation and pronounced grooves. The nose section features a threaded opening with clean threads that could accept a fuse for display. This shell was formerly part of the Ron Miller Collection and was recovered from the Gettysburg Battlefield and the actions surrounding the First Day’s Fight which included Oak Hill, Barlow’s Knoll and Cemetery Hill.
