    Identification Disk of Willard Phelps, 6th New York Cavalry, Dug at Dispatch Station, Virginia - Inventory Number: IDE 146

    Silver ID disk engraved with the name “W. Phelps 6th N.Y.V.” Willard Phelps enlisted in the 6th New York Cavalry in October 1861 and was discharged in January 1864. The disk measures 1 1/16” in diameter is missing the attachment pin and likely had a crossed sabers motif in the center of the silver ring. Phelps’ badge was excavated at Dispatch Station, Virginia in 1983 and was once part of the Cold Harbor Civil War Museum. A nice dug ID disk that was likely lost by Phelps during the Seven Days Battles from June 25–July 1, 1862.      

    Comes housed in a 6 x 8 inch display case with red velvet backing and descriptive card.
