Identified Pistol Cartridge Box with Tag - Inventory Number: GRO 092 / SOLD
This classic Civil War leather cartridge box for the revolver is a company by an original period tag testing it used during the war and being “carried through the Civil War in the 51st reg. S.H.F.”

Enlisted at 34 years old on 1/14/1864 as a Private. On 1/14/1864 he mustered into "A" Co. PA 51st Infantry. Wounded 5/12/1864 Spotsylvania Court House, VA. Born 11/8/1829, Died 12/28/1882. Buried: Montgomery Cemetery, Norristown, PA. Gravesite: B97.
The box contains a battlefield picked up cartridge and sharps projectile inside when found. The leather tab is present but separated from the box.
Comes housed in 8 x 12 riker display case with red velvet and descriptive card.
