Framed Letter Hand-Written and Signed by Confederate General James Longstreet - Inventory Number: DOC 095 / SOLD
Letter written by General James Longstreet dated 9th November, 1882 Atlanta, GA to Henry E. Sellers Esquire in Bangor, Maine, regarding the decline of an invitation to lecture during the coming winter due to his busy schedule. Guaranteed for life to have been written in the General's hand. This was one of approximately 30 letters that we purchased from the Longstreet collection and is priced to sell. Reverse of letter contains Longstreet's Signature, "I am Sir Very Respectfully / Your Obt. Sert. / James Longstreet" Letter has been framed to display both the front and the signature on the reverse, as well as the transcription. Frame measures 10 3/4" x 7 3/4".
