Wonderful example of a Civil War mourning cockade with a New Jersey staff officer’s button at center. Measures 3.5 inches and is in good, solid condition. These were widely worn by soldiers after the assassination of Abraham Lincoln on April 15, 1865. 

Comes housed in a 6 x 8 inch display case with red velvet backing and descriptive card.
